American vote counters have been sent death threats in Philadelphia after the city helped Biden win the election.
Republican Philadelphia City Commissioner Al Schmidt, who runs the city's election count, said his offices had received menacing phone calls for 'counting votes in a democracy'.
Biden has won a landslide victory in Pennsylvania's largest city - which has almost finished counting - with more than 80 per cent of the vote.
Speaking to 60 Minutes, Mr Schmidt said: "(We have received) calls to our offices reminding us that this is what the second amendment is for, people like us."
The second amendment is a section of the US constitution which protects American's rights to bear firearms.
When asked to confirm whether these calls were 'not-so-veiled death threats', he said: "Yes. For counting votes in a democracy."
He added: "From the inside looking out it feels all very deranged.
"At the end of the day we are counting eligible votes cast by voters. The controversy surrounding it is something I don't understand.
"It's people making accusations that we wouldn't count those votes or people are are adding fraudulent votes or... coming up with all sorts of crazy stuff."
Pennsylvania carried Biden to election triumph after his victory in the state was announced.
Trump managed to seize a win in the state four years ago and it became a key battleground this year.
Al Schmidt is one of three commissioners who run the election in Philadelphia and is the only Republican among them, CBS reports.
