US school shooter's chilling final message to friend before killing six, including three kids

The shooter who killed six people, including three children, at a Nashville school yesterday, sent a chilling message to a friend before committing the mass murder.

Audrey Hale, 28, who uses he/him pronouns, messaged his pal Averianna Patton on social media at 9.57am Monday morning, The Mirror reports.

He said to Ms Patton "this is my last goodbye" adding that his death would be "in the news."

Hale added that one day the situation will all make more sense.

"I’ve left behind more than enough evidence behind. But something bad is about to happen," wrote Hale, who identifies as male.

Audrey Elizabeth Hale, 28, was shot by police at the scene and has since been confirmed as the shooter who killed six people at the Covenant School in Tennessee.

Images released appear to depict Hale, who police said was transgender, although official releases are yet to be disclosed to the public.

A detailed map of the school, including possible access points, and evidence of previous surveillance were found to have been in Hale's possession.

Authorities also said the shooter was a "lone zealot", who had penned a manifesto before the deadly mass murder.

Hale is understood to be a former student at The Covenant School in Nashville, where he employed the use of two assault rifles in addition to a pistol to ruthlessly murder six people.

Metropolitan Nashville Police Chief John Drake said: "We have a manifesto, we have some writings we’re going over that pertain to this day, the actual incident.

"We have a map drawn out of how this was all going to take place.

"There’s right now a theory that we may be able to talk about later but it’s not confirmed, and so we’ll put that out as soon as we can."

The names of the three children killed were Evelyn Dieckhaus, Hallie Scruggs and William Kinney. Each one of them was nine years old.

The adults killed were Cynthia Peak, 61, a substitute teacher, Mike Hill, 61, a janitor, and Katherine Koonce, 60, who was the head of the school.

Police outlined that Hale was shot down by officers who confronted the shooter on the second floor of the Covenant School in Nashville, as he fired on staff and students.

It has since come to light that the mother of the person identified as the Nashville school shooter had previously campaigned to prevent mass shootings in the classroom.
