US clothing brand opens first Scottish store

Patrizia has let 65 George Street in Edinburgh to AFH Stores UK for the opening of Scotland’s first Abercrombie & Fitch store.

Set across the ground floor and basement, the former Jack Wills unit comprises 6,326 sq ft of retail space.

The American casual wear brand has agreed a five-year lease and will pay a rent rising to £171,000 per annum.

Savills and Ewan Mackay Property Consultants advised Patrizia, while AFH Stores UK was advised by Cushman & Wakefield.

Stuart Moncur, head of national retail at Savills, commented: “George Street continues to be one of Edinburgh’s premier retailing destinations providing Abercrombie & Fitch with an excellent location for its first store in Scotland.

“George Street is a long-standing go-to address for aspirational retailers and we are very pleased to welcome Abercrombie & Fitch which will fit in seamlessly with other nearby brands, including Sweaty Betty, Lulu Lemon and All Saints.”

In September, three retail and office buildings on George Street were sold for around £15m.

Broadlands Properties acquired 86, 88, and 90 to 92 George Street from a client of CBRE Investment Management.

Hackett, Rohan, Xile, The White Company and Gant operate from the ground floor units of the properties, totalling more than 17,800 sq ft of retail space.
