France vs Uruguay LIVE World Cup 2018: Antoine Griezmann and Raphael Varane score - reaction as Les Bleus make the semi-finals
It's the World Cup quarter-finals, this is where it gets really serious. Both Uruguay and France have plenty of history in the latter stages of the competition and will meet in a clash of styles.
Uruguay captain Diego Godin has been influential in their success but faces his biggest test after seeing off Cristiano Ronaldo. Antoine Griezmann and Kylian Mbappe have been in good form in Russia but will have to be at their best to score past Uruguay.
It's all over! France are in the semi-final after seeing off Uruguay in Nizhny Novgorod. It's Didier Deschamps' team that head for the semi-finals where they will play either Brazil or Belgium. Oscar Tabarez's men, meanwhile, are heading home to South America.
89 mins: Emotion has got the better of Jose Gimenez, who is clearly in tears as he takes his place in a defensive wall to face a French free-kick. As Gary Neville points out, there is still a minute plus five minutes of stoppage time to be played. Stop crying, get on with it and score two goals!
88 mins: Mbappe departs. The 19-year-old hasn't had the same impact as he did against Argentina but has nevertheless played his part in what is going to be another French victory. On for the final stages is Ousmane Dembele.
85 mins: France are just playing keep ball now, and playing it very well. The 1998 champions are toying with their opponents, seeing the game out in a most professional manner. Then Pogba takes up possession, tries to beat two men and is promptly tackled.
80 mins: Into the final ten minutes in Nizhny Novgorod and France are almost there. Les Bleus may not have impressed here, but they have done more than enough to see off Uruguay, who have run out ideas in this second period.
73 mins: Another Uruguay substitution but it will surely make little difference with France well on top now. Jonathan Urretaviscaya is the player tasked with sparking an unlikely comeback, the striker is on for Nandez.
68 mins: Chaos! All hell breaks loose for two minutes as players take it in turns to push, shove and scream at each other with referee Nestor Pitana a confused onlooker. It all stemmed from a clash between Rodriguez and Mbappe off the ball that left the Frenchman on the turf. In trying to haul the teenager up, Godin purposefully scratched, who retaliated by kicking out in the defender's direction. In the resulting melee, Pogba pushes a hand into the face of Nandez. Eventually, the mess calms down and yellow cards are shown to Rodriguez and Mbappe.
64 mins: Just like the first France goal, Uruguay go close to an immediate response but once again they are off target. On this occasion, it's the substitute Rodríguez who belts his shot a foot wide of the near post from 20 yards.
A second goal for France! Antoine Griezmann is the name on the scoresheet, but it's an awful blunder by goalkeeper Fernando Muslera! The Uruguayan number one should have had no trouble whatsoever in dealing with a tame shot from the French forward but inexplicably fumbled his claim and could only watch in horror as the ball trickled over the line. It surely means the game for France and the end of the road for Uruguay.
59 mins: A double switch from Oscar Tabarez as he experienced coach tries to bring a change in Uruguayan fortune. Off goes Stuani to be replaced by the highly-rated Maxi Gomez. The 21-year-old has yet to net for his country but has just enjoyed an impressive season at Celta Vigo. Also on is Cristian Rodriguez for the cautioned Rodrigo Bentancur.
54 mins: "This is when Uruguay have to show some of the fighting spirit they are known for," insists Sam Matterface just as Matias Vecino forcibly takes another French midfielder out of the game.
50 mins: A more convincing piece of goalkeeping from Muslera, who takes no prisoners in punching clear Mbappe's dangerous set-piece into the area. In doing so, the stopper floors Paul Pogba; however, the midfielder is up and ready after a short pause in what has been France's best period of the game.
Uruguay vs France is on Friday 6 June and kicks off at 15:00 at the Nizhny Novgorod Stadium.

How did they get here?
France beat Argentina 4-3 in one of the most thrilling World Cup round of 16 matches to earn their place in the quarter-final. Mbappe announced himself on the world stage with a brace and a scintillating run from deep to win a penalty. Les Bleus qualified first in their group after wins against Australia and Peru and a draw with Denmark.
While France are in the last eight courtesy of their wealth of attacking talent, Uruguay have been heavily dependent on their defence and the only goal they conceded in the tournament came in their 2-1 victory against Portugal in the round of 16. Luis Suarez and Edinson Cavani have been sharing out the goals at the top of the team.

What is their World Cup history?
Uruguay have twice lifted the famous trophy, including the first ever World Cup in 1930.
Current manager Didier Deschamps captained France to victory in the 1998 World Cup final which remains their only ever win.
Prediction
France 2-1 Uruguay. It what has the potential to be the dullest game of the tournament so far, but also the most exciting, France will likely grind it out in the same way they did in the groups.
