Police in Barrhead are appealing for the assistance of the public to trace a 13-year-old boy who is missing from his home.

Adam Phimister, 13, was last seen by his family at his home in Newton Mearns around 9.30pm on Wednesday.

Adam is described as white, 5ft 8ins in height and of slim build with short, brown hair.

Sergeant Thomas Turner said: “We are becoming increasingly concerned for his safety as he is only 13. We want to trace him as soon as possible to ensure that he is safe and well.

“He is known to frequent the Neilston, Clarkston, Thornliebank and Paisley areas and searches and enquiries are ongoing to trace him.

“I would ask anyone who has seen Adam, or who has any information regarding his whereabouts to contact officers through 101 with reference number 3312 of 4 May.”

UPDATE: Adam Phimister has been traced safe and well.
