Urban Meyer shoots down ridiculous rumors about him being the next coach at Michigan

Former Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer can’t say the name of Michigan, but that didn’t stop the speculation of him becoming the next coach at TTUN. That sadly, for some fans outside of Columbus (and maybe Ann Arbor), has now officially been shot down from the former three-time national champion winning coach himself.

While appearing on 97.1 The Fan with the show Carpenter and Rothman, Meyer was asked about those ridiculous rumors of him jumping into the khakis potentially vacated by Jim Harbaugh. And, according to Eleven Warriors, the answer went something like this …

“No, that’s not going to happen,” Meyer said after a long pause. “That’s… That’s not going to happen.”

Earlier this week, BetOnline published odds on the next head coach in Ann Arbor. Harbaugh has come under increased fire recently after Michigan got embarrassed at Wisconsin, and the popular sportsbook website jumped on it. It installed Meyer as one of the names that you could bet on along with other notable rising coaches to succeed Harbaugh.

And while Meyer’s name was five down on the list, that’s an awful high likelihood for a situation that would go down as one of the greatest turncoat moments in sports history. And that’s before we even take into account the fact that the Meyer has real medical issues that took him away from the game anyway. He would have to be extremely driven to get back into a competing environment out of boredom or love for the game.

Meyer addressed that too.

“Three months ago, I had a problem,” Meyer said during the interview. “What if I’m sitting here in October and I can’t stand what I’m doing? But I love what I’m doing. My family loves what I’m doing and those are really the only people who matter to me.”

So there you have it. I wouldn’t get too excited about the resurgence of an Urban legend resurfacing in M…ichi– (okay, I can’t say it).
