Urban Meyer: ‘It’s heartbreaking to not see the scarlet and gray out there.’

Former Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer has a lot of opinions that you can either take or leave. One thing that is unquestioned though is his love for Buckeye football. He may not be steering the program any longer, but he was born and bred a Buckeye and still has an office at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center.

Though he’s not in the middle of it any longer, you have to wonder how he feels about everything that’s going on. Well, wonder no more. Meyer took some time to speak with the ABC affiliate WSYX in Columbus and said that he feels for everyone involved.

“It is heartbreaking to not see the scarlet and gray out there,” Meyer told WSYX. “Maybe we will before the season is over.”

Meyer said that he has full confidence in the people and processes in place with safety protocols at a place like Ohio State.

“There’s no safer place in the country that I’m aware of,” said Meyer. “The players were getting tested twice a week. We have the best medical and training staff. Everyone was doing the right thing.”

Meyer also said that he felt like the players should have a voice in whether they play or not, and not be given a chance at all. He also is still hopeful for a fall season but doesn’t think the spring is a viable option.

For now, we’ll all just keep waiting, listening, and hoping that things can be determined safe enough to get Ohio State and other programs back on the field.
