Upset Saturday Night Takeaway viewers make plea to Ant and Dec as series ends

Upset fans of Saturday Night takeaway have made a plea to hosts Ant and Dec after the show came to an end for another year at the weekend.

After seven weeks of giving us 'the happiest 90 minutes of the week', Takeaway 's latest run wound up on Saturday as Ant and Dec were joined in the studio by guests like Raye, Joel Corry, Mo Farah and BGT winner Jon Courtenay as they ensured things went out with a bang.

Other big names to join them for the new series included Tom Jones, Gordon Ramsay, McFly and their former SMTV co-host Cat Deeley.

Millions of viewers have tuned in to watch the show every week and thanking them for their support, one of Ant and Dec tweeted from their account: "I can only reiterate what we said on telly, it’s been a pleasure and a privilege to bring you your #SaturdayNightTakeaway for the last 7 weeks.

"Thanks for joining us and a huge thank you for all your +ve msgs. Stay safe and look after each other. Huge love."

The lads' many followers were quick to react to the post, with a few begging them to make the next series longer as they were nowhere near ready for it to end.

One told them: "Thank you for this small nugget of tv gold... shame it is only 7 weeks why not make it 10 or 12.. this is how Saturday should be done harmless family fun like we used to get," another posted: "Petition for there to be a longer series of Saturday Night Takeaway this year because there won’t be any BGT"

A third added: "It kills me that there is no BGT this year meaning we don't see you guys on tv straight after takeaway series, like previous years."

Another big Takeaway fan seemed hopeful that we won't have to wait to see Ant and Dec on screen again as they tweeted: "Fingers crossed they’ve secretly got something up their sleeves!"
