Update on taxi driver in Liverpool bomb attack as thousands raised

Thousands of pounds have been raised for a taxi driver who is 'lucky to be alive' after a suspected terrorist set off a bomb outside the Liverpool Women's Hospital.

David Perry had picked up a fare from Rutland Avenue on Remembrance Sunday, now known as 32-year-old terror suspect Emad Al Swealmeen.

The taxi driver, David Perry, managed to leap from the vehicle just seconds from the blast and his wife Rachel took to social media to thank people for their well wishes.

She said it was a 'miracle' he escaped and is 'lucky to be alive' as he is now at home recovering.

A fundraising page has since been set up for the family, which has now reached over £27,000.

Man dies in flat blaze as firefighters called to 12th floor

A man has died following a flat fire at Quarry Green Heights in Kirkby.

Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service confirmed they were called at around 1am on November 16 after a fire was reported in the high-rise building.

A spokesman confirmed the incident resulted in the death of a man.

Five fire engines and an aerial appliance were sent to the scene.

Council sacks building firm due to 'unacceptable delays' on transformation project

Huge plans to transform Crosby have hit a major setback after the council terminated a multi-million pound construction contract.

Local authority said the move was necessary to protect taxpayers' money.

The ambitious proposals would have seen more than £3m spent on turning Crosby Lakeside Adventure Centre (CLAC), into a 'destination attraction'.

But Sefton Council today said Crossfield Construction Limited’s contract had been stopped due to “unacceptable delays and failures to progress" the project.
