2026

Resident Evil Requiem

Release date: February 27, 2026

Resident Evil Requiem is officially coming to Switch 2, with the reveal dropping during the September Nintendo Direct 2025. Set to follow Grace Ashcroft, who's the daughter of Alyssa Ashcroft, we'll be taking on the role of a character who is very much afraid and uncustomed to facing the horrors of Racoon City. Playable in both first-person and third-person, it's exciting to know that Switch players will also be able to tuck into the long awaited next Resident Evil game in 2026.

Resident Evil Village

Release date: February 27, 2026

Joining Resident Requiem, the last entry in the mainline series (outside of the remakes) to release back in 2021, Resident Evil Village is also finding a home on the Switch 2 at the same time. In it, you once again take on the role of Ethan Winters a few years after the events of Resident Evil 7, where you'll find yourself wrapped up in yet more terrifying scenarios in a mysterious village after tragedy strikes and your daughter gets kidnapped.

Release date: February 27, 2026

Completing the lineup of Resident Evil games arriving on Switch 2, Resident Evil 7 is also coming to Nintendo's latest console in 2026. As the first entry to take the first-person perspective, you find yourself in the deeply unsettling Baker Estate as you try to find out what happened to your missing wife as protagonist Ethan Winters.

Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen

Release date: February 27, 2026

February 27 is Pokemon day, so to celebrate, Nintendo has revealed that we'll be getting full eShop releases for the Game Boy Advance ports of Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen. These games hold a special place in my heart as some of the first titles in the series I remember playing myself. However, excitement aside, I do need to clarify that these aren't part of Nintendo Switch Online via the GBA Classics library. You'll need to pay $19.99 / £16.99 for each version if you want both, as they are also sold separately. It is a bit pricey, but very convenient if you are dying to play these classics again.

Back to the Dawn

Release date: March 5, 2026

Back to the Dawn was originally released on PC back in 2025, but now it's heading to the Switch 2, and as an RPG fan, I'm very pleased by that news. Set in a high-security prison where all the characters are pixilated animals, you'll need to survive and gather evidence in order to free yourself before time runs out. The upcoming game has over 100 handcrafted quests, multiple escape routes, and different endings for you to discover.

Planet of Lana 2

Release date: March 5, 2026

Get ready to explore the sci-fi world Novo once more in Planet of Lana 2: Children of the Leaf. This stunning upcoming Switch 2 game sees Lana and her faithful feline companion Mui return to action in a cinematic platforming experience that's longer, tougher, and narratively "darker" than its predecessor, according to developer Wishfully in our Planet of Lana 2 preview. With upgraded abilities for both our protagonists, Planet of Lana 2 sounds like a self co-op adventure that'll be well worth waiting for its March 5 release date to enjoy.

Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly

Fatal Frame 2 is making a comeback in a remake known as Crimson Butterfly. The initial teaser showed off a very cool-looking dragon and hinted at some juicy plot details, too. And thanks to the September Nintendo Direct 2025, we got a firm release date for March. Very exciting stuff!

WWE 2K26 Standard Edition

Release date: March 13, 2026

Few sports games are as fun as WWE titles. So, of course, 2K's WWE 2K26 is on our radar for the Switch 2. Not only are there over 400 playable WWE Superstars to choose from here, but there are also new match types and mouse support with the Switch 2's joy-cons. Exciting times indeed. Along with the Standard Edition releasing on March 13, there are also more pricey editions for fans to look at as well. DLC will also be available to buy for players; however, those all have different release days, so keep that in mind before you grab your wallet.

Snoopy & The Great Mystery Club

Release date: March 17, 2026

I love detective games, and I love Snoopy, so you know that I had to highlight the upcoming Switch 2 release of Snoopy & The Great Mystery Club. In this title, you play as Snoopy and must solve cases while exploring the world of Peanuts. From trailers, there are a ton of references from the original comics, and you'll get to talk to classic characters as well as equip Snoopy's different personas as you uncover mysteries. The game was released on other platforms last year, and some players have pointed out how there are a lot of fetch-quests. So if you are looking for a hard-hitting detective game, this may not be the one for you. However, if you are a Snoopy fan, chances are this will be right up your street.

Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun

Release date: March 18, 2026

We've seen a surprising number of tactical strategy titles find a new home on the Switch 2 since the console's release, and Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun is looking to continue that trend in March. Described as a "hardcore tactical stealth game" set during the Edo period in Japan, here you take control of a deadly team and go on missions to essentially take down your enemies from the shadows. This is a great game that really makes you use your brain, I'm also a sucker for the historical setting, so I definitely recommend this one if sneaking Shoguns sounds appealing to you.

Now, it's heading to the Switch 2 and fans of the genre will want to pay attention. While the game isn't perfect, it was nominated for "Best Fighting Game" at The Game Awards 2025. But since the game is now very hard to play on the Steam Deck due to some Linux support issues, if you want to play it handheld, the Switch 2 will likely be your new best bet.

It's up to you to solve a mystery while you also blow away enemies in a black and white noir world filled with white-gloved characters, expressive rats, and plenty of charming explosions.

High On Life 2

Release date: April 20, 2026

High On Life 2 was released earlier in February 2026 on PC and other modern consoles, but the good news is that it's coming to the Switch 2 in April! The FPS is just as hilarious as the first game, and in our High On Life 2 review, we loved how unpredictable it can be as well. Combat is a bit lacking, though, and some of the crude humor doesn't land, so keep that in mind before you make your purchase.

If you are like me then the idea of a 3D pixel wuxia RPG sounds like a dream. So, yeah I'm pretty excited to live out my martial arts fantasies with Wandering Sword once it comes to the Switch 2 this year. You play as a swordsman who, after suffering an injury, will have to begin mastering martial arts in order to fulfil your destiny. There's turn based combat, lots of skill trees to play with, and a great story as well. The Switch 2 version also includes the Mount Pack: The Supreme Steed and Immortal Trails Across the Blue Sea DLC. What more could you ask for?

TBC 2027

Mega Man: Dual Override

Release date: TBC 2027

Buckle up because in 2027, we are getting a brand new Mega Man game! Mega Man: Dual Override will follow a similar formula to previous entries, from the looks of it so far. That means expect 2D action platforming and facing off against Dr Wily once again. We don't have a set release date just yet, but I'm keeping an eye out for any news on this one.

Borderlands 4

Release date: TBC

Borderlands 4 landed on other platforms back in September 2025, and while the Switch 2 release was originally slated to come some weeks later in October, Gearbox has since delayed the launch. A statement expressed that the team "are committed to ensuring we deliver the best possible experience to our fans, and the game needs additional development and polish time to do that". No new release date has been given as of yet.

Splatoon Raiders

Release date: TBC

Nintendo announced the first-ever Splatoon spin-off with Splatoon Raiders. Set to be a Switch 2 exclusive, the adventure will see you take on the role of a mechanic who sets out to the mysterious Spirhalite islands with the Deep Cut trio. While that's all we know for now, more is set to be revealed about the spin-off in the future.

Rhythm Heaven Groove

Release date: TBC

Another expected upcoming Switch 2 game joining our list is the recently announced Rhythm Heaven Groove. This is another iconic 3DS game that is finally getting a sequel after years, and we can't imagine seeing the new rhythm game not coming to the new console when it launches sometime in 2026. The Rhythm series has been going strong since 2006, and we've been waiting for more fun mini games since 2015. So, Nintendo surely won't deprive us next year by not making this a Switch 2 title, right?

Enter The Gungeon 2

Release date: TBC

This sequel to Dodge Roll's impressive roguelike brings a new 3D art style that has plenty of chaotic physics to sell the frantic energy that was one of our favorite aspects of the original. Bullets, for example, truly go flying. Creative director Dave Crooks says "fan favorite elements will return" but that it's still in development with more news to come.

Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered

(Image credit: KOEI TECMO GAMES CO., LTD.)

Release date: TBC

This upcoming Switch 2 release gives you Dynasty Warriors 3 and the Xtreme Legends expansion all in one go. The Dynasty Warriors titles are some of the best action games ever made, and in this one, you'll get to play as 40 different officers in the world of the Three Kingdoms. Get ready for some satisfying 1 vs. 1,000 combat as you get to explore a wide array of different battles. The expansion that's included also gives you new stories for seven officers so you truly are getting your money's worth here if you decide to pick this game up.
