Unsigned Norman calls time on NRL career

Corey Norman will retire from rugby league after going unsigned for the 2022 NRL season. (AAP)

Corey Norman has announced his retirement from rugby league after 228 games in the NRL.

Norman confirmed his decision to quit after he failed to secure a contract extension with St George Illawarra for 2022.

In more than a decade in the NRL, Norman played for three clubs - Brisbane, Parramatta and the Dragons.

"It was a mad, best rollercoaster ever (over) 11 years," the 30-year-old told a YKTR Sports podcast..

Norman, who played one State of Origin game in 2019, had been reportedly linked to a move to Newcastle while a switch to Super League was also an option for the playmaker.
