NEW DELHI: With 2 months to go for the presentation of Union Budget 2023-24, the government has invited ideas and suggestions from the public.
In a tweet, finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman shared a press release from the 'My Gov' platform, inviting the suggestions from people.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday also shared Sitharaman's tweet and urged the people to share their ideas.
To foster the spirit of 'Jan Bhagidari', the department of economic affairs, ministry of finance invites suggestions from citizens every year, to make the Budget-making process participative and inclusive.
"Please share your ideas and suggestions that can help transform India into a global economic powerhouse with inclusive growth. In the past, many suggestions shared here have been incorporated into the Annual budget," the release said.
The last date for submitting ideas is December 10.
Sitharaman will be presenting the last full year budget of Modi 2.0 government likely in February 2023.
The budget making process started from October 10. So far, she has chaired several pre-budget consultations with group of experts, and industry leaders, including the agricultural and food processing industry experts.
Sitharaman has already met representatives from the social sector. She also held pre-budget consultations with state and Union Territory finance ministers.
This time the budget is being presented at a crucial juncture of geo-political uncertainties, high inflation and slowing world economic growth. Experts believe that at this juncture, calibrated steps to enhance domestic sources of growth would be crucial to maintain the steady economic growth trajectory.
