This week, the conservation society is abuzz with reports of some temples painting old buildings in gold.
Among them is Wat Potharam temple in Suphan Buri, which is registered with the Fine Arts Department as a historical site, a status that means renovation and modification work must be conducted by the department.
If any temples have an ability to do the job themselves, they need approval from the department. According to the conservation law, the temple is obliged to submit renovation plans to the department beforehand to make sure that all work complies with conservation rules.
