The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (Unesco) has praised the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej for his development work and campaigns for lifelong learning.
Unesco director-general Irina Bokova told the three-day International World Peace meeting which began at the organisation's headquarters in Paris on Tuesday that the late King was a great man who had worked for development and campaigned for lifelong learning.
She said the King had introduced the sufficiency economy philosophy for sustainable development and worked for good living conditions for the population.
King Bhumibol Ayulyadej left a legacy for global humanity and Unesco would follow the King's guideline and hard work for inclusive education to improve the lives of everyone, she said.
Unesco was applying the sufficiency economy philosophy and sustainable development principles to promote peace, she added.
