North Carolina guard Cole Anthony is up and moving after an arthroscopic knee procedure he had done Monday morning.
The procedure was done to treat a partially torn meniscus, the school said in a press release Tuesday. Anthony's father, Greg Anthony, said on Wednesday that the surgery went well and the hope is that his son will be back on the court in a month.
He appeared optimistic.
The elder Anthony said they don't know exactly when the injury occurred.
If Anthony were to return in a month, then he would likely return by UNC's Jan. 18 game against Pittsburgh. That means he would miss seven games, including the game he missed against Wofford on Sunday.
UNC (6-4) will play No. 2 Gonzaga on Wednesday without Anthony.
Anthony, who is averaging a team-high 19.1 points per game and 3.6 assists, is in Chapel Hill rehabbing his knee. He did not make the trip.
The elder Anthony posted a video of his son on Instagram walking with two small bandages under his right knee cap. He's walking gingerly as someone in the background exclaims, "You did it."
Cole Anthony posted a photo of himself on Instagram with the caption, "I will be back stronger!"
