Umar Sadiq addresses Manchester United transfer talk as Rangers flop makes 'no accident' claim

Former Rangers misfit Umar Sadiq admits transfer speculation over a move to Manchester United is a "big compliment".

The Nigerian forward has caught fire with Partizan Belgrade after a wretched loan stay at Ibrox where he failed to score in four appearances during the 2018/19 season.

He returned to parent club Roma but has now forged a promising career for himself in Serbia after netting 17 times last season and impressed against the Red Devils in the Europa League.

And the 23-year-old insists the signing link won't be the last as he aims to continue his red-hot form form after his Rangers nightmare.

Speaking to the Belgrade daily Republika, he said: " Manchester United 's interest is a big compliment for me as a player but, believe me, nothing is accidental.

"Partizan have helped me a lot in my career. I found my way, and now I just follow what they ask of me. I think this is just the beginning of my success, and the motivation is there.

"We work thoroughly before every game. We don't only talk about tactics and video analysis, but also human relationships.

"Whether it's the manager, Savo Milosevic, or someone else from the coaching staff, they are always there for us. As for United, I think they were surprised by how we played against them in Belgrade.

"They put out their best team, which tells you how much respect they had."
