Ulrika Jonsson reveals what 'tipped third marriage over edge' in first interview since split

Ulrika Jonsson opened up about her divorce in her first TV interview since the split.

The TV presenter, 51, announced in April that she had split from her third husband , Brian Monet.

Appearing on Loose Women today, she admitted she felt very emotional ahead of speaking about her marriage breakdown.

"I think because all of last year was incredibly tough," she told the panel. "Every minute of every day, contained."

Revealing that she found it hard concealing their marriage problems and "putting on a front", she said the split hadn't come out of the blue.

"There's always one thing that tips you over the edge," she said. "There's a moment when you realise that you can't do it any more."

The pair tried couples counselling but Ulrika said that she ended up going by herself because she felt like she was dealing with things alone.

"I found it really hard to cope because you're trying to keep things [together], even in front of the children," Ulrika said.

Asked whether she felt like she had lost herself, Ulrika said: "100 percent. I feel like I've taken myself away from the world of work and TV [to look after children]."

She also said that she had felt the pressure for her third marriage to succeed and that the "first torture" had been telling the children.

"I've had amazing relationships and I've had not so good ones," she said. "I've been really lucky in many respects."

The pair tied the knot at a private ceremony in London in 2008. They then renewed their vows in Barbados in 2012 with Ulrika gushing that Brian was “more than just my husband”.

The former Gladiators presenter shares son Malcom, 10, with Brian – who also adopted her daughter Bo, now 18, in 2004.

Bo's biological father is German hotel boss Markus Kempen who split with Ulrika days after she gave birth.

Ulrika is also mum to Cameron, from her first marriage to John Turnball, as well as Martha, 14, with second hubby Lance Gerrard Wright.
