Ukraine war today: Russia launches wave of drone attacks as Zelensky pushes for peace talks

  • Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is set to meet with US negotiators, including Jared Kushner, and Nato Secretary-General Mark Rutte on Wednesday to discuss the state of peace negotiations, which have been put on hold due to the conflict in Iran.
  • Russia launched 339 unmanned aerial vehicles, including around 200 Shahed drones, at Ukraine ahead of these talks, with President Zelensky reporting that these strikes hit 'purely civilian facilities'.
  • Ukraine is actively working with several Middle Eastern nations, such as Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Qatar, to share intelligence and weaponry to resist Iranian drone and missile attacks.
  • Italian senators have proposed a plan to incentivise fishing companies to donate discarded nets, which Ukraine is using as an effective countermeasure against Russian drone attacks.
