Ukraine may get around their league shutdown before meeting Scotland in the World Cup play-off by staging games in Italy.
It appears certain that UEFA and FIFA will shelve the March semi-final to reach Qatar 2022 due to Russia's full-scale invasion of their neighbours, with June a likely date to get the game played.
Aleksander Ceferin, the president of European football's governing body revealed his native Slovenia have offered refuge to Ukrainian Premier League players after football in the country was suspended indefinitely.
Now the likes of Dynamo Kyiv and Shakhtar Donetsk - who had already moved to Dynamo's NSC Olympiyskiy after the war in Donbas forced them out - have been offered a place to play by Italian chiefs.
That would allow Ukraine's home-based players to get back to playing ahead of a potential June clash with Steve Clarke's side in Glasgow.
Italian Footballer Federation president Gabriele Gravina said: "We are prepared to host Ukrainian league games and we are currently in talks about how to do this.
"We are working on other initiatives too that can help Ukrainian football."
The Ukrainian league never restarted after their long winter break and they only suspended their season just two days before the invasion last week.
