UK weather: When the Met Office says 2019's summer sun will finally end

The Met Office has revealed when chilly temperatures are likely to put an end to summery weather.

The experts expect a fairly warm day in Bristol today (September 16), with temperatures to peak at 18C, though the skies are set to be cloudy.

And the sun is predicted to shine more strongly as the week goes on.

The Met Office forecasts Tuesday will see plenty of sunshine, as will each of the following five days.

Peak temperatures are likely to rise by one degree per day during that period, from 18C on Tuesday to 22C on Saturday.

When the sunshine will end

According to the Met Office long-range forecast for the UK, colder and more unsettled weather is expected to move in from the west by Sunday, September 22.

This should "herald a spell of rather changeable weather for part of the working week", the forecast says.

It continues: "There is a degree of uncertainty as we head towards the last weekend of September.

"On balance we should see a northwest to southeast split in the weather with the strongest winds and heaviest spells of rainfall in the northwest, and the best of the dry, warm, and sunny weather in the southeast."
