UK weather: Rain warnings issued as more flooding set to lash homes

After a brief respite in the weather, the UK is bracing itself for heavy downpours to hit already flood-hit communities.

A yellow weather warning for rain has been issued by the Met Office for northern Wales between noon on Monday until 12pm the following day.

The alert says flooding to homes and businesses is likely, as well as travel disruption to train lines and roads.

Today (Sunday) will see a mixture of sunny spells and showers, heavy at times with a chance of hail and thunder.

Those brighter spells will not last long, however, as WX Charts shows the another band of torrential rain hitting the UK on Monday.

Winds could hit speeds close to 55mph as Britons are battered by unsettled conditions.

Residents are likely to wake to a wet start in Bristol today, with 60 per cent chance of rain from 7am. The downpours will linger for most of the morning, clearing around 1pm, when intermittent showers are likely.

The mercury could climb to 10C by 2pm when wind speeds will be at their highest, peaking at 43 mph.

UK weather forecast

Sunday

Rain clearing the far southeast during the morning. Elsewhere, sunny spells and blustery showers, heaviest in the west with a risk of thunder. Feeling cold in the wind.

Outlook for Monday to Wednesday

After a dry, chilly start on Monday, wet and windy weather spreads to all parts. This clears Tuesday to leave it colder with showers, some of these heavy and wintry.
