UK Easter weather forecast: Country set to bask in 21C sunshine after cold snap

Britain is set to bask in glorious sunshine during the Easter weekend as parts of the country sees highs of 21C.

The warmer than average bank holiday comes after the UK saw days of plunging temperatures during a cold snap, where temperatures in some parts of the country fell to as low as -3C.

Met Office forecaster Greg Dewhurst said “it should start to feel a lot warmer” at the start of the new week.

For the past few days, some parts of Britain have woken up to frost and bitter winds after a cool air from Scandinavia blew over.

The brisk winds came over from Central Europe and Scandinavia, although the Met Office said it is not unusual to spring to see temperatures as low as this or for a brief cold burst to hit.

Many places are set to be dry on Good Friday, with warm sunny spells.

The cloudiest areas are likely to be in the northwest, and along some eastern coastlines, where it will be a little cooler. The rest of the Easter weekend is looking to be mainly dry and warm.

Mr Dewhurst said the direction of the wind is going to change this week, allowing for it to be warmer. This change will mean it will be slightly hotter than usual in April, at about 21C.

The average temperature for this time of year is about 15C.

The North West and South East of England will enjoy these sunnier conditions, as well as South West Scotland.
