UK sending warship to Cyprus after RAF base attacked by Iran

  • Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer confirmed the deployment, stating it was in response to the security situation.
  • The helicopters will be Wildcats equipped with Martlet missiles, and HMS Dragon is a Type 45 air defence destroyer designed for air defence.
  • Cypriot authorities also intercepted two further drones heading towards the base, and France is reportedly planning to send air defence systems and a frigate to Cyprus.
