The UK's top 10 chippies have been announced in the prestigious Fish and Chip Shop of the Year Award.
Organised by Seafish, the public body that supports the £10 billion UK seafood industry, the awards are the Oscars for chippies, to establish which is batter than the rest.
Hundreds of chippies are judged nationally in order to come up with the shortlist.
The nearest to Greater Manchester is Fish and Chips @ Weston Grove in Chester.
On its website, it says: "We have accomplished so much in the last year it has been amazing! We want to thank everyone for supporting us, sending us messages of good luck and most importantly our amazing team."
The chippy prides itself on not using plastic straws and cutlery and asks customers to reuse their paper bags.
Every restaurant was assessed on sustainable sourcing of fish, menu innovation, marketing, staff training and customer service.
Fish and chips are the most enduringly popular takeaway and are high in protein (as well as fat) and are great as an occasional treat.
Seafish says a portion of fish and chips can contribute to one of the recommended five a day portions of fruit and vegetables (if mushy peas are included).
It is also recommended that two portions of fish are eaten a week as part of healthy diet.
Among the 10 top are Stonehaven's Carron Fish Bar which is home to the deep fried Mars bar, which they claim to have invented two decades ago.
