UK's 'most remote home' goes on sale for £10million despite no heating or internet

A mountain hideaway dubbed the 'loneliest' home in Britain is going up for auction and is expected to fetch an eye watering £10million.

Skiddaw House includes three mountains and 3,000 acres of land sprawled across the beautiful Lake District.

The enormous property boasts six bedrooms and five bathrooms and says that it comes with a 'garden' - a modest description for its impressive surrounding land.

But the house has no mains electricity, gas or telephone. There is no heating or internet while water is sourced straight from the mountain.

The plot is one of the largest areas of the Lake District national park ever to be sold, according to Andrew Wright, head of Mitchell's Land Agency which is organising the sale.

It will go under the hammer this week, described by auctioneers as the 'most remote home in England.'

The house is several miles from the nearest shop (Mitchells Land & Property)

Perched in the mountains at more than 1,500 ft, the closest pub in Bassenthwaite is almost four miles away.

While the nearest shop is five miles from the house in the neighbouring village of Keswick.

The property can only be reached on foot as the road is inaccessible to cars.

While the quickest route to walk passes through the village of Threlkeld and takes around one hour and 20 minutes.

No price tag has been given but it is expected to go for £10 million (Mitchells Land & Property)

Nestled in the mountains near Keswick, Cumbria, the house first hit the market in 2021.

But despite being one of the most viewed listings on Rightmove, its isolated location and inaccessibility meant it did not sell.

Now it has returned to the property market, this time featuring an incredible 3,000 acres of land.

It also includes sites isuch as Skiddaw Forest, Skiddaw Mountain and Great and Little Calva.

No price tag is given but it is thought to be on sale for about £10million, according to The Guardian.

Skiddaw House is currently a youth hostel welcoming 2,500 guests so far who are willing to travel to the building on foot, reports MailOnline.

The sealed bidding process will commence on Wednesday when all those interested in owning the property will submit their offer to the auctioneer.
