The UK is heading into lockdown again
(Picture: REUTERS)Boris Johnson has announced England will go under a four week lockdown starting on Thursday.
Pubs, restaurants, gyms and non-essential shops across the country will have to close until December 2, according to current plans.
However, this morning Michael Gove admitted that people may have to stay at home for longer if the coronavirus R rate is not brought down.
His comments come as the Prime Minister faces a backbench rebellion over the new measures, with one senior Tory branding the prospect of another national shutdown “disastrous”.
The UK has now confirmed more than one million Covid-19 cases since the start of the pandemic, with another 23,254 infections and 162 deaths from the disease confirmed overnight.
