If you feel like it's been a long time since Christmas and you're in need of a long weekend, you're in luck. The first bank holiday since January is nearly here - and it signals a run of five this month and next.
Of course many people have to work bank holidays, but for those lucky enough not to, there are some extra days coming up. And hopefully bank holiday workers will be getting the equivalent time off elsewhere.
There are nine bank holidays in 2023, which is one more than usual due to the UK being granted an extra day off to celebrate King Charles' coronation in May. That extra bank holiday falls on Monday, May 8. And, with there already being two bank holidays in May, it means next month is all about the three-day weekends.
Before that, of course, Easter is approaching this coming weekend, with Good Friday, April 7, being a bank holiday alongside Easter Monday, April 10, making a four-day weekend. For those who were savvy with their leave, they might be enjoying a chunk of time off using minimal holiday entitlement.
After the May bank holidays there's a gap until the summer day off at the end of August. And the next ones after that are Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
It's important to know that your employer does not have to give you paid leave on bank or public holidays. Bank holidays may also affect how and when your benefits are paid, reports the Liverpool ECHO.
