UDAIPUR: ACB team of Udaipur unit on Saturday trapped an assistant police inspector and head constable of Mumbai crime branch red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 4,97,000. Both the accused had come to Udaipur from Mumbai to arrest a person in a case related to fraud.
According to Umesh Ojha, addl SP, ACB, the special unit of ACB had received information that two officers of the Mumbai crime branch had come to Udaipur to arrest a person in a case related to fraud and had demanded money to release him and settle the case.
Based on the vehicle registration number, the ACB special unit team intercepted the vehicle and arrested the two officers Gyaneshwar (API) and Prashant (head constable) after inquiry. The person detained by the two officers was also in the vehicle during the operation. Both the accused are under the custody of Udaipur ACB team.
