Udaipur limps back to normal, administration urges people not to believe in rumours

UDAIPUR: The city is limping back to normal a little over a week after the brutal murder of tailor Kanhaiya Lal, which shook the nation. With the situation improving, curfew was relaxed for 14 hours on Thursday. The credit for bringing life back to normal in the tourist city goes to the district administration, police and above all the cooperation of residents and various communities who came forward to ensure peace and harmony.

To maintain law and order across the division, Udaipur range IG Praful Kumar is continuously monitoring the activities giving instructions to police officers.

Udaipur SP Vikas Sharma is also monitoring the situation and has been taking steps to ensure a safe and fear-free environment to the residents.

On Wednesday night, Sharma visited several residential colonies and took stock of the law and order situation. The SP visited Silavat Wadi, Mahavat Wadi, Bicchu Gali, Chittoro Ka Timba and Jat Wadi area and had a discussion with residents.

He enquired about night patrolling and said life in the city was much better and people are getting busy with their daily activities. He said the environment was now peaceful and residents could carry out their day-to-day tasks without any fear. He also assured that the police administration is working diligently to maintain law and order.

On Thursday evening, Sharma along with a police team visited Mullatalai area and spoke to the residents in different localities. During the interaction, locals came forward and expressed their concern for bringing back peace.

"We are trying to tell people not believe in misinformation. Whatever has happened is now past. Those people who are responsible for it are going to be punished severely, we will take strict action against those who try to breach the peace of the city," said SP Vikas Sharma.
