Mike Tyson and Francis Ngannou are currently in Saudi Arabia for the PFL vs. Bellator: Champs card, a significant event in the MMA world. Tyson, a retired boxing legend, will present the winner of three title fights with a custom championship belt. On the other hand, Ngannou, the former UFC heavyweight champion, plans to confront the winner of the heavyweight superfight between Renan Ferreira and Ryan Bader, potentially making his PFL debut this year.

The event marks PFL's first pay-per-view show, showcasing a strong roster of fighters and pitting Bellator champions against PFL's champions. PFL's recent acquisition of Bellator demonstrates its ambition to challenge the industry leader, UFC. This event also signifies the first major MMA card held in Saudi Arabia, highlighting the country's growing influence in the sports world.

PFL's unique sports-season format sets it apart in the MMA landscape, with fighters competing in regular seasons, playoffs, and championships annually. The organization's founder, Donn Davis, emphasizes PFL's innovative and disruptive approach in the sport, aiming for continuous growth and evolution.

Ngannou's involvement in PFL symbolizes the promotion's anticipated expansion. After contract disputes with UFC led to his departure, Ngannou joined PFL last year, securing a role as chairman and equity owner in PFL Africa. His upcoming fight against Anthony Joshua in Riyadh will precede his highly anticipated PFL debut later this year.

Despite initial talks of a potential matchup with UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones being rejected, Ngannou is expected to face either Ferreira or Bader in his debut. Davis expressed confidence in Ngannou's interest in the outcome of the upcoming fight, suggesting a potential future matchup based on the performance of the contenders.

The presence of Tyson, Ngannou's childhood idol, adds to the event's significance. Tyson, known for his legendary boxing career, will present winners with a custom championship belt, underscoring the prestige of the occasion.

Saudi Arabia's involvement in the event, including a stake in PFL, reflects the country's growing influence in global sports. Despite concerns about 'sportswashing,' Saudi Arabia's support for MMA events has been well-received by athletes and organizers, highlighting the country's role as a key partner in promoting sports on a global scale.
