Tyrell Williams landing spots could impact several other deals in free agency

Tyrell Williams is going to get paid. That’ll more than likely be someone else in the AFC. There are a handful of teams that will likely offer Williams upwards to $12 million a year. ESPN’s Bill Barnwell wrote about Tyrell going to three different teams in the AFC. Here are the hypothetical deals:

Williams signs a four-year, $52 million deal with the Browns

Cleveland already handed Jarvis Landry a five-year, $75.5 million deal, but with nearly $79 million in cap space, it can afford a luxury weapon for Baker MayfieldTyrell Williams‘ downfield ability would be a great contrast to Landry and give the Browns a better deep threat than free agent Breshad Perriman.

That deal comes out to $13 million a year. You have to imagine at least half of that is guaranteed, too. The Browns could also sell Williams on the idea of being their true number one receiver. Barnwell predicts this move could trigger other wide receivers going elsewhere. Including the 49ers trading for Antonio Brown.

Williams signs a four-year, $56 million deal with the Bills

With the Bills lacking deep-threat options for Josh AllenTyrell Williams looms as an obvious fit. The former undrafted free agent has 11 touchdowns on deep passes over the past three seasons, which ties him for the seventh most in the league. If the money seems high, well, look at the rest of the receiver market.

If I could pick a landing spot for Tyrell not to end up, it’d be in Buffalo. It just feels like Williams will never progress or reach his ceiling with the Bills. They do have money to offer, though. This deal would give Williams $14 million a year. In this scenario, Desean Jackson ends up with the Patriots. Naturally, a career year.

Williams signs a four-year, $60 million deal with the Jets

The Jets already have Robby Anderson, who ended the season well, but inconsistency and off-field concerns might lead them to pursue a more stable deep threat in Tyrell Williams. Something north of $30 million in guarantees might be enough to convince the Western Oregon product to swap L.A. for NYC.

If a team out there can offer Williams $15 million a year, kiss him being a Charger again goodbye. That should snag a solid comp pick back in the following draft, at least. In this scenario, the Jets trade Robby Anderson to the Eagles.
