Tyrell Malacia names Manchester United player he has spoken to about club ahead of transfer

Feyenoord left-back Tyrell Malacia spoke to fellow countryman Tahith Chong about Manchester United ahead of completing his move to Old Trafford.

Malacia, as reported by the Manchester Evening News , visited United's Carrington training base on Monday to undergo the second part of his medical. The Reds hijacked his proposed move to French club Lyon last week, agreeing a £12.9million fee with Feyenoord for his signature.

The 22-year-old is poised to become the club's first signing of the summer transfer window and their first addition of the Erik ten Hag era. He is being drafted in to add some much-needed competition for Luke Shaw in the battle for the left-back berth.

Malacia will become the third Dutchman within the squad, linking-up with fellow countrymen Donny van de Beek and Chong. The latter will be a familiar and friendly face for Malacia, with the duo having played alongside each other at Feyenoord.

Chong, who is out-of-contract at United next summer, started his career at Feyenoord before sealing a move to Old Trafford back in 2016. And Malacia has revealed that he has heard "a lot" about United from the winger, as well as admitting that he has spoken to former Reds striker Robin van Persie.

"I talked to him (Van Persie) about the club and the city," Malacia told De Telegraaf. "About places to live. Also through my childhood friend Tahith Chong, with whom I played at Feyenoord, I have heard a lot. I'm only just coming to this level so I still have to show what I can do. But I want to reach the very highest and go for it - and I think I can do it, yes."
