Tyrann Mathieu Gets Emotional Over Saints Fans Booing During Loss to Lions

The Saints fell to 5-7 on the season after a loss to the Lions on Sunday, during which the home crowd at the Caesars Superdome booed the team over its disappointing performance.

Addressing reporters after the game, star safety Tyrann Mathieu got emotional when discussing the boos from the fan base, which he called “disappointing.”

“It’s disappointing. I think we all need to play better. I think growing up in this city, it’s no secret that we’re all invested. Obviously, they have a right to apply pressure, so to speak, but at the end of the day, we’re one family, we’re one community, and it’s going to take all of us,” said Mathieu with a shaky voice, via NOF Network.

Detroit jumped out to a 21-0 lead over New Orleans in the first quarter, from which the Saints were never able to recover. It marks the third consecutive loss for the team and their fifth defeat in their last seven games.

Mathieu, a New Orleans native, couldn’t hide his emotions after another loss, but urged the fan base to rally around the team.

The Saints take the field again in Week 14 against the Panthers, when they’ll be back in front of their home crowd. Despite their recent woes, New Orleans is very much alive in the NFC South, trailing the division-leading Falcons (6-6) by one game.
