Typhoon Kajiki to weaken, reach northern Thailand Tuesday evening

Typhoon Kajiki will weaken into a low pressure system and reach the northern Thai province of Nan on Tuesday evening, according to the Meteorological Department.

The department said that at 4pm Sunday the typhoon was in the upper South China Sea, about 450 kilometres southeast of Vinh city in Vietnam.

It expected the typhoon to land in Vinh in northern Vietnam and weaken to a tropical storm on Monday.

On Tuesday morning it will become a depression and reach Laos before weakening to a low pressure system and arriving in Thailand’s Nan province on Tuesday evening.

I will rain heavily in the upper Northeast from Sunday to Tuesday and in the North from Monday to Wednesday.

Heavy rain will be highly likely in provinces along the path of the storm. They are Bung Kan, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Lampang, Lamphun, Loei, Mae Hong Son, Nakhon Phanom, Nan, Nong Bua Lam Phu, Nong Khai, Phayao, Phrae, Sakon Nakhon, Udon Thani and Uttaradit.

The storm will have a reduced impact on the East and the western side of the South.
