Tyler Roberts pulls out of Wales' squad for Nations League double header

Tyler Roberts has been withdrawn from the Wales squad ahead of their Nations League matches against Finland and Bulgaria.

The Leeds United forward had been hoping to add to his seven international caps in the coming days, but will remain in Leeds in what is a precautionary move by the club.

The 21-year-old has had to contend with a number of injury problems during his two-and-a-half years at Elland Road and the club are keen ensure that he is ready for the club's Premier League opener against Liverpool on September 12.

Roberts netted four times in 23 appearances for Leeds last season, but was sidelined with injury either side of Christmas.

The Welsh FA confirmed that Roberts, Aaron Ramsey, David Brooks and Ashley Williams have all withdrawn from Ryan Giggs' squad, with Ben Woodburn and Brennan Johnson stepping up from the under-21s to replace them.

First-team regulars Liam Cooper, Kalvin Phillips, Mateusz Klich, Gjanni Alioski, Illan Meslier and Stuart Dallas are among those to be called up by their countries for the pre-season double-header, while new signings Robin Koch and Rodrigo may face each other when Germany host Spain on Thursday night.
