Tyla had to be CARRIED up Met Gala stairs in sculpted sand gown - WATCH viral video

Tyla, best known for her music single "Water", made a show-stopping debut at the Met Gala 2024.

The beauty arrived in a custom sculpted sand gown that turned heads and captured imaginations. However, the journey up the Met Gala stairs proved to be a challenging feat for the Grammy-winning artist, as she had to be carried up the iconic stairs by a team of men.

Videos from fashion's biggest night saw the star being lifted by the waist and placed on the stairs as she was unable to climb up owing to the structured fit. The singer made the most of the star treatment, by smiling and waving to the shutterbugs as she was carried up the stairs. Along the way, she even stopped to address the media and talk about her custom gown that will go on display in the museum.

Collaborating with stylist Katie Qian, Tyla opted for a show-stopping Balmain gown, meticulously crafted to resemble the "sands of time". She even walked the carpet with an hourglass in her hand.

The South African sensation expressed her desire for something truly unique for her Met Gala debut, setting the stage for a memorable entrance. Tyla topped her look off with water-inspired jewellery by John Hardy.

Meanwhile, Balmain's creative director, Olivia Rousteing, shed light on the intricate process behind Tyla's gown with The Hollywood Reporter and revealed that the creation of the gown involved a moulding process to create a one-of-a-kind masterpiece that will soon go on display.
