Two-year-old boy's body found in Scots town as police probe 'unexplained' death

A two-year-old boy has died in Perthshire sparking a huge police investigation.

Officers were called to Park Terrace in High Street, Rattray, near Coupar Angus, at around 5am on Tuesday.

A police probe is underway establish the cause of death which, at this stage, is being treated as unexplained.

Cops confirmed the tragic news to the Daily Record on Tuesday evening and said a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

In the latest update, issued on Wednesday morning, a force spokesperson confirmed there do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances.

They said: "Around 5am on Tuesday, 10 May, 2022, police were called to an address in Park Terrace, High Street, Rattray, following the death of a two-year-old boy.

"Enquiries are ongoing to establish the exact cause of his death which at this time police are treating as unexplained but not suspicious.

"A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."
