Two TTEs of NER collect Rs 2 crore each from ticketless passengers, create record

LUCKNOW: Probably breaking all-time records of penalty collection by individual train ticket examiner, two ticket checking staff of northeastern railway (NER) of Lucknow division have collected more than Rs 2 crore each.

According to railways, TTE Rizwan Ullah caught 25,271 ticketless passengers, and Jagpreet Singh penalized 27,698 ticketless passengers while posted at Gorakhpur junction. Both have collected Rs 2 crore each, while nine other ticket checking staff collected more than Rs 1 crore.

Earlier according to railways, chief ticket inspector of Lucknow division northern railways (NR), Mahesh Kumar Yadav who penalized 19,990 ticketless passengers to generate Rs 1.60 crore broke the record of Chennai division southern railway deputy CTI Nandakumar who collected Rs 1.55 Cr from 27,787 passengers in 2022-23.

"In total NER Lucknow division generated Rs 70.29 crore revenue by penalizing 9.34 lakh ticketless passengers in the previous financial year 2022-23, which is 17 % more than 2021-22," said the railway in a statement.
