Two soldiers rushed to hospital after armoured vehicle smash

Two soldiers were taken to hospital after a smash in Dumfries and Galloway involving an armoured vehicle.

Officers from Police Scotland were called to the A75 road, near Carsluith at around 3.20pm yesterday afternoon after a a Panther light armoured vehicle overturned.

The 23-year-old male driver suffered from a head injury, while a 30-year-old passenger required treatment for a back injury.

As a result of the crash the road, between Newton Stewart and Stranraer, was closed for more than six hours.

The incident happened on the A75 near Carsluith yesterday afternoon (Google Maps)

The pair were taken to the Galloway Community Hospital and Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary.

A British Army spokeswoman confirmed two soldiers were taken to hospital following the crash.

Police Scotland have been contacted for comment.
