Two Scots children find deadly 'blue plague' pill stash at garden gate

Two children aged four and five found a potentially deadly stash of “blue plague” pills while playing outside their home.

The incident in Bonhill, Dunbartonshire, triggered outrage among residents, with some calling for a crackdown on street dealers.

Luckily, the kids didn’t touch the fake valium, which they could easily have mistaken for sweets.

They found the bag just outside their front gate in Elmbank Drive.

A resident said: “It is really shocking and scary. This could have easily ended up with two young kids dead because drug-pushing morons leave this poison lying about the streets.

“There was a big rammy on Saturday when someone was spotted trying to sell this stuff.

“He must have ditched the bag, intending to go back for it later, but the kids found it first right outside their front gate.

“He then had the cheek to come back and ask for the pills back. Needless to say, it all kicked off and he was arrested.”

Another resident said: “What is the world coming to? Kids can’t even play in front of their own house without finding this lethal stuff at the garden gate.”

A police spokeswoman said: “At 10.40pm on Saturday, police were called to reports of a man in possession of drugs on Elmbank Drive. A 23-year-old man was arrested and charged.”

The Record has been raising awareness about fake Valium since July 2016, when we warned of a “hidden epidemic” that has killed hundreds of Scots.
