
BURI RAM: Two schoolboys were killed after a motorcycle they were riding against the traffic flow collided head-on with an oncoming pick-up truck in Nang Rong district early on Sunday, police said.
Police officers found Patikan Khanphroh, 14, lying dead on the road near a badly damaged motorcycle. Another boy, Ekarat Pluemchaisaeng, 17, was seriously injured. Rescuers attempted to save his life, but he died shortly afterwards.
The front of the pick-up truck, driven by Boonsri Jaemsai, 48, was damaged. Boonsri's wife, Suchada Chamniwat, was also in the vehicle.
She told police that she and her husband were from Ban Kruat district, heading for Tak's Mae Sot district.
She said they were driving in the far right lane on Highway 24, in front of Ban Nong Bot School, when the motorcycle slammed into them, travelling the wrong direction in the same lane.
Police were investigating to confirm the cause of the accident.
