Two prisoners are being tested for coronavirus at HMP Bullingdon in Oxfordshire.

The men are inmates at Bullingdon prison, near Bicester, and are reportedly being kept in isolation in their cells.

Access is also being restricted to one wing where the prisoners are, according to Sky News.

One of the men is understood to have been recently transferred from a Thai jail.

They are both reported to be suffering flu-like symptoms.

The prison, which has capacity for 1,114 inmates, remains operational. It is the main prison for offenders in the Thames Valley area.

Bullingdon holds both prisoners on remand and who have been sentenced, as well as young adults between the ages of 18-21.

The testing of two inmates comes after the World Health Organisation announced the new coronavirus will be called COVID-19.

As of Tuesday afternoon, a total of 1,358 people have been tested for coronavirus in the UK, of which 1,350 were confirmed negative and eight positive, the Department of Health said.

Meanwhile, the so-called coronavirus 'super-spreader' has spoken about his ordeal.

Fifty-three-year-old Steve Walsh, who is believed to have unwittingly infected 11 other people after contracting the deadly disease in Singapore, is currently in quarantine in hospital in London.

Public Health England declined to comment on the two inmates at Bullingdon prison getting tested. It is reportedly on side helping to manage the situation.
