Two police officers injured after crash in Basford while responding to incident

Two police officers suffered minor injuries and were taken to hospital following a crash that happened while they were responding to reports of an incident.

The collision happened near McDonald's, near the Radford Road and Western Boulevard junction in Basford on Sunday, September 5.

Inspector Asif Mohammed, from Nottinghamshire Police, said: “An investigation is underway to establish the circumstances after a crash involving a police car and another car which happened in Valley Road, Old Basford, at about 5.25pm today (Sunday 5 September 2021).

“Two officers in the police car suffered mild concussion and whiplash injuries and were taken to hospital as a precaution. No other injuries have been reported.

“The police car was responding to reports of an incident with its blue lights on. Enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing.”

Video taken from the scene showed damage to the police car,.

Officers directed traffic after queues built in the area.

Eyewitness Josh Wing told Nottinghamshire Live the "road was blocked and causing chaos at the junction".
