Two people were taken to hospital after a crash in Nottinghamshire this morning, Thursday, February 25.
Emergency services were called to the incident involving three cars near Mansfield Woodhouse.
In a tweet at 11.45am, Matt Reavill, group manager at Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service, said: "A60 junction with Leeming Lane between Woodhouse and Spion Kop closed in both directions due to RTC [road traffic collision]. Emergency services on scene.
"RTC involving three cars. Two persons taken to hospital. Great teamwork and interoperability shown by crews from two different services ( @nottsfire and @DerbyshireFRS ) Thankfully casualties' conditions don’t appear too serious at this time."
An image taken after the incident shows a vehicle with its roof ripped off. Emergency crews often do this to vehicles to release people trapped inside, but it is not yet known if that is what happened on this occasion.
The road was reopened at around 1pm.
Mr Reavill has now asked drivers to take care at this time of year as low sun may have been a contributory factor to the crash.
He said: "Winter road conditions of snow, ice, rain, wind and low sun can make even well-known roads have unexpected seasonal hazards."
