Two people are believed to have died following a shooting incident at Caboolture, 50km north of Brisbane.
Caboolture Hospital has told AAP it is unable to provide condition reports for the pair and referred the matter to police. The hospital denied media reports it was in lockdown.
The Queensland Ambulance Service also said it could not comment on the condition of the victims, and directed questions to police.
Police told AAP the shooting happened about 5.15pm on Lower King Street at Caboolture.
An official said it was extremely early in the investigation and officers were still piecing together what happened.
Police could not say whether or not officers were searching for a gunman.
