Two people rescued by fire crews as serious crash closes M62 near Leeds

A serious road traffic collision left two people trapped in cars on the M62 near Leeds.

The emergency services are still at the scene with the road closed causing long queues as far back as junction 28.

In a statement, West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service said:

"Road traffic collision involving 3 cars, one person was trapped and was released from vehicle into care of ambulance crews prior to being taken to hospital.

"A further vehicle that had been involved in the initial collision was located 200 yards away with a further casualty trapped.

"This casualty was released by fire crews and handed over into care of ambulance. Two pumps from Hunslet and one from Ossett attended.
