CHANDIGARH: Police arrested two peddlers with 40-gram heroin in the city in the past 24 hours. The accused have been identified as Deepak Nain, 32, of Nayagaon, Mohali, and Monu, 19, of Maloya.
The UT Police district crime cell had set up a naka near sectors 2, 3, 10, 11 chowk. On seeing the police, accused Deepak Nain tried to flee. During his search, cops claimed to have recovered 32gram heroin.
He was arrested under the NDPS Act. In another case, a team of Maloya police was patrolling near small flats in Dhanas. Accused Monu changed his direction on seeing the cops. Police frisked him and recovered 8.85-gram heroin from him.
