Two men named by police after knife fight outside B&M

Two men have been charged following a knife fight outside a B&M this weekend.

Police were called to the Kirkby town centre store, on Norwich Way, at around 1.40pm on Saturday, August 21, to reports of two men fighting.

One of the men had a knife wound to his neck and the other to his wrist, however the injuries are described as non-life-threatening.

Two knifes were also found and recovered nearby.

Detectives have now charged two men in connection with the incident and they are due to appear in court today, Monday August 23.

Gary Lay, 43, of Overton Close, Westvale and 66-year-old Stephen Hughes of Norbury Road, Westvale, have both been charged with possession of a bladed article and assault.

Detective chief inspector Simon Vaughan said: "Our enquiries continue into this incident, so if you witnessed it or have any information, please come forward and we’ll continue to take swift and positive action against all those we suspect are bringing harm into our communities."
