Two men in their 20s rushed to hospital after shooting on east London street

Two men have been taken to hospital following reports of a shooting on a residential road in north east London.

Emergency services were called to the scene in St Stephen’s Road near Old Ford Road shortly before 9.20pm on Monday.

Upon arrival, officers and paramedics from London Ambulance Service found a man aged in his 20s had been shot.

He was taken to a major trauma centre where his injuries were assessed as non life-threatening or life-changing.

A second man, also in his 20s, later self-presented at hospital with gunshot wounds. He too is in a stable condition.

No arrests have yet been made and specialist officers have been assigned to the investigation, police said.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: “Around 21:20hrs on Monday, 27 October, officers attended St Stephens Road, Tower Hamlets, with the London Ambulance Service, following reports of a shooting.

“A man in his 20s was treated at the scene for gunshot injuries. He was taken to hospital, where his injuries were assessed as non-life-threatening and non-life-changing.

“Another man, aged in his 20s, later presented at hospital with gunshot injuries. These have also been declared neither life-changing nor life-threatening.

“No arrests have been made at this stage, and police are making enquiries. Specialist detectives have been assigned to the investigation.

“Anybody with information is urged to call 101, quoting crime reference 7449/27OCT. Alternatively, a report can be made anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”

A spokesperson for London Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 9.17pm on Monday 27 October to reports of a shooting on St Stephens Road, E3.

“We sent resources, including ambulance crews, an incident response officer and a paramedic in fast response cars.

"We also dispatched a trauma team in a car from London’s Air Ambulance, which consisted of a doctor and a paramedic in a car.

“We treated a man for a gunshot wound and took him to a major trauma centre.”
