The 37-year-old was arrested on suspicion of robbery and a 35 year-old man was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle and possession of a controlled drug of Class B (cannabis)

On Monday Detective Inspector Phil Mahon said: "This guard was simply trying to do his job and, though not injured, has been subjected to this ordeal on a road which would have been busy with shoppers and cars driving past.

"We are carrying out a number of enquiries in the area including examination of CCTV footage and forensic enquiries.

"We would be keen to hear from anyone who was driving past or packed nearby and might have dashcam footage. We also appeal for anyone who witnessed the incident itself or who saw the offenders acting suspiciously, or leaving the silver car on Ibbotson's Lane, to get in touch.”
